I'm the founder of WHOM (Women with Her Own Money) and the Female IN (FIN) network. My journey began when I was only 11 years old, and I woke up to the fact that my experience of the world as a woman was different from my brother's experience. This realization sparked a lifelong passion for advocating for women's rights and equality.
The Birth of FIN
In 2014, I was deeply troubled by Boko Haram’s kidnapping of Nigerian schoolgirls. I felt compelled to act, to create a space where I could find women who were as worried about the same thing as I was, so we could all come together and form some sort of a resource. This led to the creation of the Female In Nigeria (FIN) Facebook group, a private group to explore issues facing Nigerian women.
The Creation of WHOM
The lessons I learned from FIN and the struggles faced by women in our community led me to create WHOM - Women with Her Own Money. WHOM is a platform dedicated to empowering women to gain financial independence and make their own money. It's more than just a platform; it's a movement of strong, resilient women who are passionate about breaking free from abusive people and systems by gaining financial independence.
Introducing WHOM Pro
Within WHOM, we have WHOM Pro, a project we started because some members wanted to do more than tell their stories of their ups and downs. They also wanted to promote their businesses and services. WHOM Pro allows people to tell their story and add promotions to those stories. They can't post without wrapping it in an engaging personal story.
